Hua Hin Tops in CondoSales

Hua Hin led all Thai resort areas in condo sales in 2007.

In terms of floor area, Hua Hin condo sales totaled 87,300 square meters (m2). This represented 44% of total sales in the 4 major resort areas (see graph).

How did the other beach resorts perform?.

After Hua Hin, Pattaya performed best with 68,800 m2 sold, representing 34% of total sales. Phuket was next with 33,900 m2 (17%) and then Samui with 9,700 m2 (5%).

Why did Hua Hin outperform the other beach resorts?

Hua Hin’s superior performance can be attributed to a number of factors.

  • Demand for condos in Hua Hin comes from both Thai and foreign purchasers. Demand in the other resorts, particularly Phuket and Samui, is heavily dependent on foreign buyers. Therefore, demand in Phuket and Samui can be more volatile.
  • Hua Hin prices remain lower than the other resorts, meaning that buyers get more for their money and enjoy greater capital appreciation potential.
